The Country Crooner Luke


As early as October 11, Luke Bryan has already announced that he would be holding a North American tour entitled, “Dirt Road Diaries” starting January 17, 2013. The tour is expected to feature 20 shows over a nine-week period with the first one being held at Evansville, Indiana and the last one in Charlottesville, VA. The said tour is said to be his way of promoting this third album entitled, “Tailgates and Tanlines”. This album follows the success of two previous album and was released last August 2011. It was able to eak at #2 at the county charts. It contained such hits as the “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” and “I Don’t Want This Night to End”. “Country Girl”, released in March 14, 2011 and was able to peak at #4 at the County Charts while securing the 22nd place at the Billboard Hot 100. “I Don’t Want This Night to End”, on the other hand, is considered to be Luke Bryan’s third #1 single. The said track was a collaboration among Luke Bryan, Dallas Davidson, Rett Akins, and Ben Hayslip. Luke Bryan’s success has led to him singing the Star Spangled Banner during the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Born Thomas Luther Bryan in Georgia, Luke had his first taste of the music industry when he started writing songs for such artists as Travis Tritt and Billy Currington. 2007 saw Luke releasing his first album, “I’ll Stay Me” which featured such tracks as, “All My Friends Say”, which was able to peak at #5 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs for 2007; “We Rode in Trucks”, “Country Man”, and “Over the River”. A track entitled, “I’ll Stay Me” is also included in the album. Of the 11 songs in the album, 10 were co-written by Luke. The album itself was able to peal at #2 at the US Billboard Top Country Albums.

Luke Bryan“I’ll Stay Me” was followed by the album, “Doin’ My Thing” in 2009 which was released, as was the previous album, under Capitol Records. The album featured another chart-topper in the form of, “Do I” which peaked at #2 at the US Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. Considered as the first single from the album, “Do I” was a collaboration among Luke, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood who is also a part of the group Lady Antebellum. Lady Antebellum lead singer, Hillary Scott, also lent her voice for the said track and, although uncredited, was the one in the background vocals. Luke’s second album was able to peak at #6 at the US Billboard 200 with “Do I” peaking at #2 in US Country Charts. Aside from “Do I”, two more tracks from the said album were also able to make it to the top. Both “Rain is A Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby” was able to make it to #1 for the US Country Charts. Just like with his previous album, Luke was also heavily involved in the songwriting process.
