Katy Perryis a pop American singer and songwriter who made her name in the industry officially in 2007. Katy Perry, born under the name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, was raised in a religious family as both her parents are Christian pastors in Santa Barbara, California. Presently, Katy Perry has been one of the most popular to youth listeners due to her contralto vocal range. According to the 27-year old pop star, her musical influences can be traced back to nineties female rock icon Alanis Morissette.  It was her album, Jagged Little Pill who strongly influenced her musical style and taste. Queen’s former frontman Freddie Mercury was also one of the icons she looked up to. According to Perry, without Freddie Mercury, she would not be making music or do what she does because it was mercury’s voice that resounded in his head when she was still in her teenage years. She recalled being especially smitten by the record “Killer Queen”.

Fashion-wise, she has become very noted for her unconventional fashion sense that can sometimes be compared with retro and a combination of girly rockabilly.
