Pink, or Alecia Beth Moore in real life, is one of today’s pop icons that managed to make huge hits in the airwaves as well as in the internet and mobile world. It was in the year 2000 when her career started with the release of the single “There You Go” in her debut album, “Can’t Take Me Home”. Follow-up singles from this album were “Most Girls” and “You Make Me Sick”.
In the next year, Pink became one of the vocal acts in the cover of “Lady Marmalade”, which was the soundtrack of the movie “Moulin Rouge!”. Many consider the release of the single made her star shine brighter as she did excellent performance alongside other pop artists Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, and Mya. This was the song that gave her first Grammy Award for “Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals”.
Following to the widened fame she got from the said collaboration was her sophomore album, “Missundaztood” in 2001 that featured the hit singles “Get the Party Started”, “Don’t Let Me Get Me”, “Just Like a Pill”, and “Family Portrait”. Critics believe that this album revealed and highlighted Pink’s identity as an artist. In the last quarter of 2003, her third album “Try This” was released. Her single “Trouble” from this album earned her the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance Award, which was her first solo Grammy Award. Other singles in this album were “God Is a DJ”, and “Feel Good Time” (non-US edition only).
It took a while before her fourth and fifth albums came out. These were entitled “I’m Not Dead” (2006) and “Funhouse” (2008), respectively. The singles from her fourth album were “Stupid Girls”, “U + Ur Hand”, “Who Knew” and the minor hits “Dear Mr. President” and “Nobody Knows”. Meanwhile, her single “So What” from her fifth album was her first number 1 solo single in the US Billboard 100. Follow-up singles from the same album were “Sober”, “Please Don’t Leave Me”, “Bad Influence”, and “Funhouse”.
In 2010, Pink collaborated with several artists in the remake of “We Are the World” for the benefit of Haiti earthquake victims. She then released her sixth album, “Greatest Hits… So Far” in the latter part of the year. This album featured Pink’s greatest hits and two new singles “Raise Your Glass” and “F’ckin Perfect”, which was her second number one single at the US Billboard. It was in June of 2012 when Pink’s seventh album came out, entitled “Truth About Love”. The first single was “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” and was followed by the inspirational mellow hit “Try” and the catchy love song “Just Give Me a Reason” that became her third number 1 song in the Billboard 100. She also released the single “True Love” where she collaborated with Lily Allen. Her massive success this way led her to become 2013’s Billboard Woman of the Year.
