A Country Legend Who Shall Live in Modern Times

Seldom do you find country singers who get to retain their popularity and suave in gathering an applauding audience, but George Strait, now 60, is a pure exception. He has been reigning in the field of country music for decades but until now, he has never lost his touch.

George Strait is among the names that didn’t get old, unlike his contemporaries. His music has lived for three decades, and his voice retained that soulful sound that never failed to gather crowds. But like with any other star, age has the knack for taking its toll and as a means to gracefully exit the music arena, Strait began his farewell tour entitled “The Cowboy Rides Away.??? The tour’s second leg is bound to kick off on January of 2014 and will include a series of destinations all over the United States.

Next stop would be at CenturyLink Center Omaha, Omaha, NE, followed by a performance at the Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO, and they will then proceed to San Jose, CA to perform at the SAP Center. Subsequent destinations include San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Auburn Hills, Columbus, Philadelphia, Newark, Louisville, Rosemont, Nashville, Atlanta, Wichita, Denver, Portland, Tacoma, Des Moines, Tulsa, Baton Rouge and Foxborough.

Well-known country stars will also join Strait, to give them the chance to perform with the great King George. Some of the stars that are bound to join him in his tour include Sheryl Crow who is known for “If It Makes You Happy,??? Jason Aldean, Martina Mc Bride, Little Big Town, Chris Young, Miranda Lambert and many more.

“King George??? was born in Texas and it was in 1981 when he released his first ever album entitled Strait Country. It was then followed by Strait from the Heart. Strait was able to create more albums but his great success came about during the 1990s, where he got to release 9 albums. Five of these albums reached number one and from then on, Strait stuck in number one, becoming a legend in country music.

Strait has also been the recipient of various awards. He won Artist of the Decade award given by the Academy of Country Music in the year 2000s. He became one of the recipients of Country Music Hall of Fame and he also got to win a Grammy Award. In 1989 and 1990, he was named as CMA Entertainer of the Year. He got to sell more than 70million albums during his career, with Pure Country as his best-selling album, selling approximately 6 million copies.

George Strait will be receiving The Legend of Live Award, which will be given by Billboard this November. This award is considered as among the most prestigious award. He is now lined with famous artists like Sir Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne.

Indeed, George Strait is among the best artists to have walked the music industry. Although he is now on his farewell tour, his music will continue to live in the hearts and minds of people.
