Chicago Bulls Looking to Get Pau Gasol; Derrick Rose Fined

Chicago Bullsis clearly the top team in the National Basketball Association right now and the owners of Chicago Bull tickets love it. Even though Chicago has identical losses with Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat at nine, their 35 wins make the difference. Derrick Rose is once again leading the team, though not as heavy as his MVP season last year. Their defense has been really solid allowing the second fewest points in the league. The point differential of the Bulls, on the other hand, tops the league. Everything seems to be clicking right for the Bulls despite injuries to key players such as Luol Deng and Richard Hamilton.

Despite their overall success this season which led to the good chemistry for the team, there is a report that the Bulls is looking to get Pau Gasol of the Los Angeles Lakers before the trade deadline. According to the article of Marc Stein of ESPN.com, Chicago is reportedly exploring avenues to get the four-time all-star from the Lakers to pair with Rose. Chicago has been hoping to get Dwight Howard to pair with Rose but the three-time Defensive Player of the Year has a lack of interest in going to Windy City, as per sources of ESPN.com.

In order to get Gasol, Chicago would have to appease the Lakers management by putting up a package that has at least one certifiable star. Sources of ESPN.com told that Los Angeles is willing to surrender Gasol as long as they can get a player that fill their needs. The Lakers, though, have very little interest in the players that Chicago would be offering which starts with former all-star Carlos Boozer. Since Los Angeles badly needs a quality point guard, this potential trade would be a very long shot.

Even though Chicago has had their share of injuries to their players, breaking up a team that has a really good chemistry would be a very bad idea. Oklahoma City, just like Chicago, is one of rising teams in the league. Another similarity that the two teams have is that both are led by two young superstars. One of the key reasons why Oklahoma City is the number one team in the West is their chemistry. The core of the team has been together since they traded for Kendrick Perkins. This is something that Chicago has to do. The team is a well-oiled machine right now and breaking up the team at this point is the worst thing that the Bulls management can do.

In other news around Windy City, Rose was fined by the league for publicly criticizing officials after their win over the New York Knicks on March 12. The former Rookie of the Year was quoted saying “I’ve gotta be the only superstar in the league that’s going through what I’m going through right now.” The fine amounted to $25,000, which is his first since he first played in the NBA in 2008.
