The Giants was the sixth seed in NFC during the playoffs and had to win every game on the road to reach the final game. The road to the Super Bowl of New York was a tough one. They defeated the fifth seeded Atlanta Falcons during the wild card round 24-2. After reaching the divisional round, New York had to go up against the best team in NFL and the reigning Super Bowl champions Green Bay Packers. The Giants defied the odds and defeated the champs 37-20. After ending the season of the Packers, New York went up against the second seeded San Francisco 49ers of the NFC crown. This was an intense game in which the game went to overtime. New York showed resiliency and defeated another heavyweight 20-17 to book a trip to the championship game.
The Patriots, on the other hand, was the first seed in the AFC. Since they were the first seed in AFC, New England had a Bye on the wild card round. In the divisional round, the Patriots had to go up against the red-hot Denver Broncos and its star quarterback Tim Tebow. They defeated Denver 45-10 to move on to the AFC Championship round. In the conference championships, New England went up against the Baltimore Ravens. This game was a close one and New England showed who the top team is in the AFC. They defeated Baltimore 23-20 to get another chance for the title.

Before the Super Bowl XLII in 2008, New England was the best team in NFL. They were undefeated for the season and running past the playoffs with an 18-0 record. New York, on the other hand, had to go through the wild card round to make it to the Super Bowl. With almost all people already naming New England as the champs, New York did the unthinkable. Down 3-7 entering the fourth and final quarter of the 2008 season, the Giants scored on two touchdowns en route to defeating the previously undefeated team in NFL that time.
For this year’s championship, will there be a repeat of what happened in 2008 or will the Patriots get revenge on the team that deprived them of a title in 2008?
When other teams think that five-time Super Bowl quarterback Tom Brady is unbeatable, New York is thinking the opposite. The Giants is looking to disrupt the offense of the Patriots by planning to put enough pressure on the superstar quarterback. They did it in 2008, and New York is looking to do the same.
