Tales of the Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide is a 1995 film set in post-Soviet Russia. The movie focused on the conflict between a tenured commanding officer and his executive officer. The tension between the two leads to problems interpreting an order relating to the launch of missiles. Well, those characters can take a cue or two from the Alabama Crimson Tide when it comes to teamwork.

The Alabama Crimson Tide is actually the name of the athletic team, both male and female, of the University of Alabama. To date, the said educational institution has about 21 varsity sports teams. They are considered to be a member of the Southeastern Conference of the Western Division. The university boasts of having one of the best collegiate sports program in the entire US. The Alabama Crimson Tide team is engaged in such sports as Football, Basketball, Golf, baseball, Softball, Gymnastics, and Track and Field, among others. Its main rivals, most specifically when it comes to the sports programs include the Auburn Tigers of the Auburn University and the University of Tennessee team.

Just the other week, the famed Alabama Crimson Tide played against the Texas A&M in football and lost. While this might worry a number of Alabama fans, all is not lost yet. For one, they would have time to recover from the physical beating that they got from their previous brushes with other teams. It also helps that Nick Saban is currently the head football coach of the Crimson Tide. Nick Saban is one of the highest-paid football coaches due in part to the fact that he had worked with a number of teams already in the past. He also has a number of championships under his belt including three national championships and the AP National Coach of the Year.

This does not, however, mean that the Crimson Tide can easily rest on their laurels. We cannot discount the fact that former Alabama Colorado Tides head coach Jim McElwain is now with the Colorado State, the same McElwain who helped the team go against the Texas Longhorns and was responsible for the Crimson Tide’s 2010 as well as 2012 BCS National Championship crown having beaten the LSU Tigers. McElwain was hired last December 2011. The presence of Tim Tebow in the former game does not hurt, either. Of course, having lost the game to Texas A&M could mean a longer wait for them to be on the top regardless of the current standing of the other teams.
